Procedure for Reverse Laminar Air Flow(RLAF) Unit

OBJECTIVE:

To describe operating and cleaning procedure of Reverse Laminar Air Flow (RLAF) unit.

SCOPE :

This Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) covers the procedure of operating  and cleaning of RLAF Units.

PROCEDURE:

  • Operating procedure of Reverse Laminar Air Flow (RLAF) Unit. Before starting the operation, ensure ‘zero’ reading in all three magnehellic gauges (else, do not operate RLAF and inform maintenance department for rectification).
  • All three magnehellic gauges shall be  re-calibrated before its calibration due date.
  • Check the cleanliness of RLAF by visual inspection.
  • Switch on the main supply, Light and then Blower in RLAF.
  • Allow the RLAF to run for at least 10 minutes to stabilize the airflow before starting the dispensing activity.

Following are details of three magnahelic gauges used in RLAF unit to measure  the pressure difference :

  • PRESSURE DROP ACROSS FINAL (HEPA) FILTER:
  • Category : Critical, (Limit: 7mm of WC – 15mm of WC) and if reading it is found action limit, intimate maintenance department.
  • Action Limit : 8 mm of WC & 14 mm of WC
  • PRESSURE DROP ACROSS INTERMEDIATE FILTER :
  • Category : Indicative (Limit: 1.5mm of wc – 4.5 mm of wc) and if reading it is found action limit, intimate maintenance department.
  • Action Limit : 2mm of WC & 4 mm of WC
  • PRESSURE DROP ACROSS PREFILTER:
  • Category: Indicative (Limit: 0.8mm of wc – 3.2 mm of wc). and if reading it is found action limit, intimate maintenance department.
  • Action Limit: 1mm of WC & 3 mm of WC
  • Ensure dispensing activity is done always inside the safe zone. (A Red line marked inside RLAF is the limit of safe zone).
  • On completion of operation, allow RLAF to run for minimum 5 minutes and    then switch off the power supply.
  • Maintain the RLAF log sheet for usage of RLAF as per SOP.

Cleaning procedure of Reverse Laminar Air Flow (RLAF) Unit.

  • Cleaning of the RLAF shall be done as per SOP (Cleaning procedure of Dispensing area).
  • The Pre-filter and Intermediate filter are change every 3 days (±1), or as and when required. Cleaning of the filter shall be done maintenance personnel.
  • After cleaning filter shall be re fitted in RLAF by maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure magnehellic gauge reading is under specified limit by store Personnel and record the same in annexure-I.
  • On completion of filter change activity and before start of  operation (Dispensing)  cleaning of the area shall be done as per the cleaning procedure of  product change over in dispensing area.
  • Record the cleaning activities in annexure-I and Dispensing room cleaning   log book.
