SOP for Pest and Rodent Control Management

OBJECTIVE:

  • To describe the procedure for establish and Monitoring and effective Pest and Rodent Control management in and around Performing and Monitoring in the facility Monitoring.

SCOPE:

  • This SOP is applicable for Performing and monitoring Pest and Rodent Control Management at Kshitij Pharma Solutions.

RESPONSIBILITY:

  • HR and Admin department: shall responsible to communicate with External Agency for effective governance of Pest and Rodent control Management.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Head – HR and Admin : Shall accountable for checking, Review & Gap Assessment of SOP at Site.
  • Head QA – Shall accountable for checking, Review,Gap Assessment & Approval of SOP at Site
  • Head Operation,s: shall be accountable for Implantation of SOP at Site.

PROCEDURE:

Pest Control:

External Agency Pest stop Pest Control:

  • Rodents (Rats/Mice and all crawling insects) and Pest Control (lying insects like Mosquitoes, Flies,bedbugs and Wasps, spider, lizards, Termites and  cockroaches & other fling insects)  throughout the plant shall be done by M/s. PEST STOP PEST Control as per the defined frequency on Weekly Basis.
  • All pest control activities shall be performed by outside pest control agency.
  • Annual contract shall be done with outside pest control agency.
  • Only contractor’s trained person shall be allowed for conducting the pest control activity.
  • The person, who shall be involved in pest & rodent control activity, shall be trained and must wear proper gown, nose mask, hand gloves & shoe cover.
  • Ensure that pest control activity shall be done as per Annexure-I and record shall be maintained by GMP coordinator after review from QA Department.
  • Ensure the cleaning of each pest-controlled area for absence of pesticides by GMP Coordinator.
  • All the pest control activities must be recorded in the log book/documents in annexure 1 , II & III respectively.
  • In case of any seasonal affect in environment / climatic change due to which there is increase of insects, flies, etc., additional services shall be taken from contractor & record should be maintained thereof.
  • Storage of pesticide shall not be permitted in manufacturing premises.
  • Issue, preparation, use and safe disposal of pesticide container shall be the responsibility of contractor’s person, which must be done by them at their end.
  • Different chemical solutions of various concentrations shall be prepared by the respective personnel of M/s. PEST STOP PEST CONTROL under the supervision of Security Personnel at the time of pest control activities.

Rodents Control –

  • The “Glue pad” shall be placed inside the roda box for controlling the rodents by the contractor’s trained personnel fortnightly and record shall maintain in Annexure
  • The roda boxes shall be identified by a unique number on the basis of their location.
  • In house inspection of roda boxes shall be done by housekeeping personnel twice in a week in supervision of GMP coordinator, records of verification shall be maintain accordingly as per Annexure.
  • During inspection if any rodent shall observed than housekeeping personnel shall clean the roda boxes and place another glue trouble gum pad.
  • Rodent box / Roda Box shall be installed at predefined location and its glue pad shall be replaced on fortnightly basis or before as and when required, shall be recorded the insects which found inside the glupad in Annexure 2.

Note:- Verification and observation shall be taken on daily basis, Preparation of Organic Pest Control solution:

  • Take 5 Liter of Potable water, add 50 ml of Neem oil into it and further add 50ml pine oil , Mixed Properly the solution Spray the organic pesticide solution in the Defined area.
  • After completion of  pest control activities , the left over organic pesticides solution shall be discarded by diluting it with 10 volumes of water followed by draining it out into outer side drain.
  • Fixing of glue pad, changing it and its findings of observations shall be recorded as per Annexure-II, the current version of format Nos as per the SOP.
  • If any reptile/ insect like snakes, rats, etc., is found inside the Rodent Box then it shall be recorded properly online in the relevant format Nos as per the SOP.
  • During Rodents and Pest Control activity, Health & Safety measures applicable for the same (PPEs) shall be followed i,e the pest control personnel must wear nose mask, caps, hand gloves, safety shoes and safety goggles. 

Note:

Use PPEs (i,e personnel protection equipment’s) during the Rodent box Handling.

Note- The Fibronil Gel 01 gm to be used for Cockroach Control.

Insects Control

  • For controlling the insects, insectocutor shall be placed at each entry point and wherever necessary.
  • All insectocutors shall be numbered with a unique identification no. A list of insectocutors with ID no. & location shall maintain as per Annexure
  • Monitoring of insectocutor shall be done twice a day and record shall be maintain accordingly.
  • Cleaning of insectocutors shall be done daily.
  • The numbers of insect and their type (accordingly decide the insecticide or fliocides) shall be count daily and their record shall maintain.
  • Insectocutor tray shall clean on daily basis and the killed insect shall bury and record shall maintain accordingly as per Annexure.

Safety Precautions

  • The Insecticides / Pesticides used are highly toxic and so avoid contact with skin and eyes.
  • Inhalation should be avoided during spraying.
  • Oral ingestion to be avoided.
  • In case of poisoning, call the physician immediately.

Note:

  • As an impact assessment the efficacy and strength of the pesticide,can be revived on monthly basis and accordingly the concentration of the chemical can be revised , if needed.
